Our client is a premier manufacturer in their niche of the marketplace. They have experience record sales for the past five years and been in business more than 50! Our plant located in the beautiful Southwestern US is embarking on exciting new upgrades.
The Project Engineer should be a “hands-on” individual, who will have plant responsibility for programming and networking control systems, and specifying the PLC’s, sensors, servos and motion controls for new production lines and the upgrading of existing manufacturing. Position will manage or support project engineering on routine in-plant projects as well as large capital projects.
This is an ideal position for an engineer who has had experience with PLC programming and network configuration, as well as experience in drive/ operator interfaces and instrumentation. This is an ideal opportunity for an Engineer who is seeking a challenging, high visibility opportunity in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities
Provide project management to assigned projects primarily focused on electrical controls, automation, and power distribution Lead project teams of multiple backgrounds including sanitation, quality, safety, operations, maintenance, and other technical and operations resources
Prepare cost, lead-time, and downtime estimates for assigned projects and cost studies. Provide support to project engineers related to controls, instrumentation, and automation Prepare engineering specification and bidding documentation for assigned work
Specify, bid, select, and purchase required equipment, instrumentation, parts, and contractor services to meet project requirements
Supervise work conducted by plant labor, contractors, and service personnel to ensure efficient coordination and completion of assigned projects Manage multiple projects of varying complexity and priority simultaneously.
Preferance given towards individuals offering: a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Controls Engineering, or Equivalent/Closely related field, 5 - 10 years experience in a production or manufacturing setting, ideally in a high-speed, continuous operation with Process Control systems. 2+ years of leadership, supervision, or managerial experience – Engineering or Maintenance. The ability to design machine control systems consisting of control wiring, PLC’s, starters, instrumentation, VFD’s, servo’s, safety standards, and arcflash requirements. Ability to develop P&ID’s, electrical design drawings, and sequence-of-operation documents. Familiar with Allen Bradley PLCs and VFD’s. Able to do Control Logix, PLC 5, and SLC programming. Experience with industrial control networks, i.e. Data Highway+, Ethernet, ControlNet, WonderWare. Instrumentation and calibration. Knowledge of building facilities (compressed air, water, hydraulics, vacuums, heating and cooling) including voltage to 480v, three-phase. Working knowledge of power transmission equipment (gear boxes, drive trains, conveying equipment)
