Production Manager-GLASS HOT END/TANK

Production Manager:
Employees Supervised: 34
Primary Duties:
· Provide direction and leadership to hourly workforce through direct supervision, to ensure the completion of production schedules while achieving targeted losses and exceeding budget yield.
· Communicate yield losses from budget on previous shift and implement changes to improve current shift.
· Monitor yield losses and key performance indicators frequently throughout the shift and make process adjustments as required to meet or exceed budget yield targets. Support will be provided from the Area Manager/Process Improver as necessary. Contact the appropriate Area Manager/process improvers as necessary to resolve issues quickly.
· Consult Area Managers regarding department priorities. Communicate and execute plans developed by Area Managers/process improvers. Communicate with on shift First Operators and prioritize shift activities.
· Understand customer requirements and implement mistake proofing activities to eliminate potential defects.
· Develop, coordinate and oversee the training of new employees on shift in each department. Focus on employee expectations and accountability to improve ownership. Ensure that all Sops are followed all the time.
· Communicate any required SOP changes to the appropriate Area Manager/Process Improver.
· Implement continuous improvement ideas based on gaps in current production and maintenance needs.
· Check on adherence to production schedule and make corrective actions to minimize yield loss.
· Help facilitate equipment troubleshooting and process improvements. Eliminate problem reoccurrence by mistake proofing – coordinate improvement efforts with shift production and maintenance personnel.
· Lead team for plant reporting and hold shift meetings to report events and establish weekly action plans.
· Coordinate and prioritize 5S/SWP activities.
· Ensure all equipment is performing as required and meeting production requirements. Ensure equipment is tested and ready for use. Follow up with appropriate departments if not satisfactory.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a float glass manufacturing facility
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Demonstrated leadership and people skills
Knowledge of Microsoft applications
Detail oriented
Demonstrated ability in innovative, developing and results-oriented competencies
Microsoft office skills
Qualifications Desired:
Associate or Bachelors Engineering Degree
Statistical training/knowledge
Black/Green Belt
