Position Title: Process Engineer

Reports To: Manager, Manufacturing Engineering

General Function: Provide technical and continuous process improvement leadership. Develop, document and maintain world-class processes and production strategies. Design innovative fixtures, methods and tools. Must be capable of developing and implementing manufacturing processes that prove successful on complex engineered-to-order machinery. Serve as the key interface between assembly and product engineering to assure cost-effective and lead time-reducing assembly techniques. Responsible for Lean Continuous Process Improvements resulting in meeting stated cost savings and waste elimination at all levels.
Criteria for Process Engineer, is as follows:
· Openly support Quality Management System ideals and adhere to applicable work instructions, procedures and forms.
· Must have good technical writing and verbal communication skills.
· Must have strong, positive personality in order to effectively deal with resistance to change.
· Manage projects and available resources to completion while staying within budget, meeting or exceeding deadlines and fulfilling quality requirements.
· Must have good mechanical aptitude and background.
· Have basic understanding of machining processes such as milling, turning, grinding and material characteristics.
· Experience using Toyota Production System tools such as 5S or 6S, process mapping, setup reduction, etc. Be knowledgeable in most forms of waste elimination. Be capable of performing time studies.
· Be comfortable training employees on Lean principles.
· Be familiar with root cause analysis and identifying core process problems. Also be able to recommend corrective action once root cause is identified.
· Have a basic understanding of GD&T.
· Work as a self-directed team member with minimal daily supervision.
· Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of personnel inside and outside the company.
· Interact well with production employees.
· Be familiar with mechanical and electrical bill of material structures. Ability to read wiring diagrams helpful.
· Be familiar with fabrication, piping, tube-bending.
· Facility layout and solid modeling capabilities preferably with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Inventor.
· Ability to identify need for and design unique fabrication and assembly tools. Implement world-class assembly techniques.
· Justify capital improvement expenditures and monitor implemented savings.
· Understand and use all applicable enterprise business systems currently in use by BPM.
· Provide technical guidance and input to other functional areas relative to vendor management, cost control, supplier networking, design improvements for commercial items and new vendor sourcing.
· Thoroughly understand role as a supplier and the machinists, assemblers and wiring technicians as the customers.

Experience:

Minimum of 10 years experience in a Process/Industrial Engineering or similar position in an OEM machine assembly environment. A combination of Process/Industrial Engineering experience and degree in an Engineering discipline may constitute 5 of the 10 years. Practical technician or assembly experience may constitute up to 5 of the 10 years. An industrial, process, mechanical or other engineering degree is highly desirable.
