Process Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer for our client’s auto glass manufacturing
facility. This position will provide engineering and technical support on a daily basis to improve processes and implement changes and enhancements to provide a cost effective quality product.
The ideal individual will have a successful track record in this role with the opportunity to be promoted into the Engineering Manager position.
Duties
• Monitor day-to-day process operations.
• Resolve issues and/or problems to improve efficiency, quality & quantity.
• Assist the manufacturing facility in meeting its volume and yield goals.
• Complete heavy planning to include product schedules, product flow, projects implementation, SOP
changes, tooling requirements, manning proposals, training, supervisory upgrades, cost reduction,
systems support, and troubleshooting.
• Evaluate current processes, suggest improvements and implement any approved changes. Provide
necessary documentation and training for same.
• Assist in the research and development of new parts and manufacturing techniques for the
manufacturing process.
• Troubleshoot production, quality or maintenance problems.
• Assist in the tooling development process.
• Provide focus, stability and team building.
• Directly participate in area continuous improvement team.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline required
• 5+ years engineering experience in a 24x7 hands-on manufacturing environment
• Engineering experience working in a glass manufacturing facility strongly preferred
• Project Management experience required
• Six Sigma Black Belt training a plus
• Excellent verbal and written presentation skills

Highly visible position in the company from an international standpoint. This is their leading manufacturing operation. New equipment going in soon! There is a definite opportunity to move into management position. We are seeking a candidate who has the ability and the desire to move into an engineering manager role within 1 year (4-09) due to a retirement.
It’s important that this person understands they will be on the manufacturing floor 50% of the time interacting with the maintenance and production teams. Very quick change over with multiple part changes on the lines each day. They are assigned to an area of the manufacturing process (lamination, cutting, furnace, etc) and should direct process improvements. As well as work with the Quality Department
Automotive Glass experience is a plus, but will consider any relative glass experience, float, etc.
Edge grinding experience is a plus. Project management a plus. Six Sigma training a plus.
Someone who has spent most of their time in a manufacturing environment and supports the process. They are out on the plant floor interacting with the employees & processes, gathering information, etc. Must be a people person with people on all levels and want to interact with our production crew. Must have good written and oral communication skills from a technical and interpersonal perspective.
